Children reported among injured in Ind. wreck – WHIO

Two children suffered serious injuries in a crash that injured seven people in all in Randolph County Friday afternoon.
Medics and deputies from Randolph County responded to the intersection of County Road 900 West and state Route 32 around 5 p.m. Friday on a reported serious head-on crash.
Deputies said in a release, a 2002 Cadillac driven by Thomas Hawkins, 66, of Muncie, Indiana, attempted to make a left hand turn onto County Road 900 West, but was hit head-on by a 1998 Ford Windstar driven by Heather Arnold, 34 of Winchester.
Two children inside Arnoldâ€™s van, an 8-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries and were transported by medical helicopter to Riley Hospital. Arnold and another 10-year-old girl were also injured and were transported to Ball Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Hawkins, along with two passengers, Alice Garrett, 49, and a 10-year-old girl, also sustained non-life threatening injuries and were also transported to Ball Memorial Hospital.
Deputies did not indicate what factors might have led to the crash.
UPDATE @ 8:40 p.m. (Oct 16)
A section of Indiana Route 32 at County Road 900 West was shut down for more than two hours this evening following a multiple-vehicle crash.
The Randolph County Sheriffâ€™s Department said the accident scene was cleared by around 7:30 p.m., and that the department would release information about the crash later tonight.
A multiple-vehicle accident, where the injuries include at least two children, has shut down a section of Indiana Route 32 at County Road 900 West.
Route 32 in the town of Farmland (Madison Twp.) is a well-traveled thoroughfare that stretches from Winchester to Muncie and traffic is being affected because of the accident, a Randolph County Sheriffâ€™s dispatcher said.
Weâ€™re told that CareFlight and Lifeline medical helicopters have been sent to the accident. There is no report on the conditions of the children or whether anyone else has been injured.
The accident was reported about 5:21 p.m. as a traffic incident that included entrapment.
