The annual Children’s Hospital Telethon is back on WDSU this weekend.
“The Children’s Miracle Network Telethon” raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for research and support of Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.
This year, the telethon kicks off from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. It returns from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Donations can be made by calling 504-207-5437 or 866-207-5437.
There have been more than 200,000 patient visits to Childrenâ€™s Hospital over its history, and visits have come from children from all 64 Louisiana parishes, 37 states and six foreign countries.
â€œChildrenâ€™s [Hospital] is part of the community, and the community has been wonderful to Childrenâ€™s Hospital. When the community helps us, it allows us to continue helping families,â€ said Childrenâ€™s Hospital Vice President of Patient Financial Services Tammy Reites.
Located near Audubon Park on Henry Clay Avenue, Children’s Hospital is equipped with 247 beds and offers the most advanced pediatric care for children from birth to 21 years of age.
Children’s Hospital offers over 40 pediatric specialties with a team of more than 400 physicians. It’s the full service hospital for children in Louisiana and the Gulf South.
