Community Members Meet to Discuss Childcare Assistance – TWC News

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Hundreds of people from several Monroe County communities gathered Thursday night for a meeting on the expansion of childcare assistance programs.

The Rochester Alliance of Communities Transforming Society hopes to guide the political decisions of thousands. The group met with all three candidates for Monroe County Executive.

At Thursday night’s meeting, their largest gathering yet, people discussed the importance of early education and childcare assistance programs in the U.S.

“There are at least 5,000 children that are not receiving the services. That’s the problem for us. And these children are not just in the city of Rochester, they are spread around,” said Mario Escalande, Rochester ACTS President.

The alliance is made up of 15 suburban and urban congregations. Members are looking to elect candidates that will double the number of children in early education programs.
