Mother of East Haven children found dead has criminal past – WTNH

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have not arrested, charged, or even identified the mother of two children found dead in an East Haven home as a suspect in their suspicious deaths, but the News 8 Investigators have dug into her past. She’s facing charges of assault and breach of peace. Court papers say she hit the father right in front of their young children.

“Three times with a clenched fist to his forehead area, leaving visible scratch marks, which I observed,” the officer said in a report.

“Both children were present in his vehicle at the time of the altercation and witnessed said incident,” the report continues.

Court documents also show the father had taken out a restraining order against the mother in April. A search of criminal history shows she was convicted of risk of injury to a minor back in 2006.

“I am completely shocked and heartbroken,” said neighbor Danielle Carrano. “I can’t imagine what those children were feeling or dealing with.”

Neighbors gathered in front of 541 Strong Street in East Haven Wednesday to light candles and reflect on the lives of a five-year-old and seven-year-old cut tragically short.

“Today is such a beautiful day, they would’ve been playing outside right now,” said Cassandra Parillo, who lives across the street from the house. “That is what they would do, when it was nice out they’d go play. I t’s really sad.”

Police carried electronics and large evidence bags from the house Wednesday night as children and locals placed flowers at a makeshift memorial out front.

“I can’t wrap my mind around it, I still can’t,” said Parillo. “It’s been a day and still it doesn’t feel real. It’s surreal.”

The mother is still in the hospital recovering from wounds to her hands and wrists. Though she’s not been charged, arrested, or even named a suspect in the suspicious deaths, police say there is an officer stationed with her at the hospital.

Authorities have not officially released the identities of the mother or two children.
