Robin Williams’ children say the wife of the late comic actor is trying to cheat them out of funds and personal property from his estate.
In a filing Aug. 14 in San Francisco Superior Court, lawyers for Zachary, Zelda and Cody Williams said the managers of a trust fund created by the estate have already determined that Susan Schneider is claiming a greater share of the fund than her husband intended.
The fund “is intended to pay the costs of maintaining the Tiburon residence for (Schneider’s) lifetime and to pay the trustees’ fees,†the children’s lawyers said. “It does not provide (Schneider) with a guaranteed income stream.â€
They said Schneider, the actor‘s third wife, was trying to “enhance her financial position at the expense of the Williams children†and was also claiming some items of personal property that Robin Williams had bequeathed to his children.
Kevin Clune, a lawyer for Schneider, denied the accusations.
“All that Susan wants is to be able to abide by her husband’s wishes and live in the residence that she and her husband shared,†Clune said Wednesday. Apart from the disagreement over the trust fund, he said, the only remaining dispute involves a small number of items of sentimental value.
Robin Williams hanged himself at his home in August 2014. He was 63.
The dispute over his estate is scheduled to go before a judge on Aug. 28.
