Marvel Comics is in the middle of a universal makeover with Secret Wars, but the publisher has finally started dropping hints about what their freshly minted new universe will look like when the dust settles.
We’ve gathered up what we know about the new Marvel Universe so far and compiled it into this article so you can keep track of how the new Marvel is shaping up.
The All-New All-Different Marvel will debut this fall.
Marvel has already confirmed that the All-New, All-Different Marvel will pick up 8 months after the events of Secret Wars. That mean whatever the new status quo is for the Marvel universe will have been in place for a least a little while before readers start catching up.
The All-New, All-Different Avengers
For Free Comic Book Day, Marvel revealed what the Avengers lineup will look like post-Secret Wars. The team includes Iron Man (Tony Stark), Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor (Jane Foster), Nova (Sam Alexander), Vision, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), and Spider-Man (Miles Morales), a balanced blend of rookies and veterans.
Marvel shook up their status quo by introducing new versions of their big three heroes for the Avengers NOW! publishing initiative, making Sam Wilson (The Falcon) the new Captain America and a woman (now known to be Jane Foster) Thor. Some cynical fans assumed that these changes wouldn’t last past Secret Wars, but the new Avengers lineup proves otherwise. Tony Stark appears to no longer be inverted into his Superior Iron Man persona, but the other changes remain.
Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez relaunch Invincible Iron Man.
Speaking of Iron Man, we now know that the Ultimate Spider-Man team of David Marquez and Brian Michael Bendis will relaunch Invincible Iron Man this fall. Contrary to past speculation, the team did confirm that it is Tony Stark in the Iron Man armor.
There will be 55-60 New #1 Issues
Invincible Iron Man will be just one of an estimated 55-60 new first issues for relaunched series.
Fantastic Four members join other teams.
The Fantastic Four may no longer exist as a unit, but the characters are still adventuring in the Marvel Universe. Free Comic Book Day revealed that the Human Torch is now hanging out with the Inhumans and dating their queen, Medusa. The Thing has joined up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Sue and Reed Richards remain MIA for the time being, but Sue already has a working relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D., so that seems like a reasonable bet to take.
The teaser images show refugees from some of the universes destroyed during the incursions that led to Secret Wars. It seems they will be taking up residence in the new mainstream Marvel Universe, including Hyperion (who has been functioning as a member of the Avengers for months already) and Spectrum (formerly a member of another universe’s superhero team, roughly analogous to the Justice League).
Another one of those multiversal refugees is Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man. That means we’ll have at least two Spider-Men running around, including Peter Parker, plus a Spider-Woman and a Spider-Gwen.
X-23 is Wolverine, and Wolverine is Old Man Logan
Wolverine is back, but not the way you’d expect. X-23, Logan’s female clone, is taking over Wolverine’s mantle (and costume). Meanwhile, Old Man Logan is making his  way into the mainstream Marvel Universe, but whether he’s a survivor of Battleworld, a time traveler from the future, a resurrected Logan, or something else entirely remains to be seen.
Karnak is back
Karnak is the member of the Inhumans royal family that died in Inhumanity, but he’s back in the All-New, All-Different Marvel. How he’s returned has not yet been explained.
All-New Hulk and the Maestro
Marvel has promised that the post-Secret Wars Marvel Universe will have a new, controversial Hulk, one that should catch the attention of longtime Bruce Banner fans. Marvel has also said that the Maestro, the twisted future version of the Hulk from the Future Imperfect timeline, will also play a role in the new Marvel Universe. Who the new Hulk is, and their possible connection the Maestro, is still unknown.Â
