GEDDES, N.Y. — At least one person was stabbed late Friday night at the New York State Fair.

A half dozen state troopers stood by at the fair midway where at least one person received medical attention from the stabbing.

A bloodied man sat on the counter of a carnival booth packed with over-sized stuffed animals as medical personnel tended to his wounds. A small crowd formed and troopers told fairgoers to move along.

The man was placed on a gurney, loaded onto a John Deere cart and taken away.

Fair officials and a state police spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment late Friday night. A trooper at the state police’s fair office said investigators were not ready to provide details about the incident.

Friday night’s stabbing was not the only unusual incident at the state fair midway. Earlier in the day, two children were injured when two roller coaster cars collided.
