Don’t worry, the Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘will go on forever’ – HitFix

Just in case you were concerned about the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, allow Disney chairman Bob Iger to console you: there will be no end to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ever.

“Marvel, you’re dealing with thousands and thousands of characters – that will go on forever,” Iger told BBC Newsbeat in an interview. He also said he doesn’t think audiences are growing “weary” of the films, because: “I think we keep raising the bar in terms of telling stories that bring them back, that excite them, that make it feel new and that is what we do for a living,” he said.

MCU entries currently slated for release include Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War – Pts. 1 and 2, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Inhumans and yet another Spider-Man movie. And that’s just the films!

As for Disney’s other ginormous franchise Star Wars, the outlook sounds similarly ominous promising past the already-announced sequel trilogy and assorted spinoffs: “There will be more after that, I don’t know how many, I don’t know how often,” said Iger.

How did we get so lucky??!

Update (1/26/16, 8:45 PM EST): An earlier version of this story mistakenly identified Deadpool as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
