Hasbro says it has ten more years of Transformers movies on the way – The Verge
After the — ehm — dumpster fire that was Transformers: Age of Extinction, you might have expected that the series had run its course. Well, you’d be wrong. Hasbro Studios president Steven Davis revealed this weekend at the Mipcom convention that the company has the next ten years of Transformers movies all laid out. Transformers 5 is a certainty, it seems, and Davis mentioned the sixth, seventh, and eighth installments of the series as well.
“You’re going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners,” said Davis, adding, “We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time.” In that room? “Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with,” said Davis, including Akiva Goldsman, who won an Academy Award for her A Beautiful Mind screenplay.
If the message wasn’t clear, Davis drove it home just in case: “So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way,” adding after a pause: “and 6 and 7 and 8.” Apparently TV and digital storylines are in the works too.
Michael Bay has previously suggested that he wouldn’t be doing Transformers 5, but Davis did mention his name in some capacity. No more details for now, but brace yourselves for more Transformers than you can handle.
