When you play comic book characters as iconic as the Joker or the Hulk, it’s pretty hard to walk the halls of something like New York Comic-Con without being mobbed by fans. It’s hard, that is, unless you blend in with the crowd by donning a mask.

Bryan Cranston memorably snuck through San Diego Comic-Con in 2013 in a creepy-realistic Heisenberg mask (Heisenberg on Heisenberg) and now it seems Jared Leto and Mark Ruffalo are following Cranston’s lead, with an emphasis on the “creepy” part. The two actors each took to the floor of NYCC in masks, and it’s hard to tell which one is more terrifying.

Here’s Leto (his own personal crazy eyes create a perfect effect):

#NYCC they had no idea 🙂

And this Joker cosplayer had no idea how lucky his day was:

Ruffalo went with this “Luigi” mask that will haunt us forever:

Got to hide out and enjoy #comiccon2015

We kind of wish he’d found a Hulk cosplayer, but it was a pretty good day for this kid, too:

Had a great time at #comiccon2015 NYC! Thanks ComicCon for the Hospitality.

We wonder how many more celebs didn’t reveal their disguises?
