‘LEGO Marvel’s Avengers’ Still Adding More Characters, Coming January 2016 – Forbes

Hulk (Age of Ultron)LEGO Marvel’s Avengers slips to late January, but looks fantastic and is still adding characters.

Along with its update on Lego Dimensions open world game-play, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced that LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will be available on 26th January 2016 in North America and 29th January 2016 in Europe.

This is the second Lego Marvel game and focuses this time on the story lines from Marvel’s The Avengers, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Although the game hadn’t had a confirmed date it has been touted as coming late 2015. Understandably keen to ensure quality and avoid the busy   Christmas roster, TT Games have moved this next single-franchise Lego video-game release to early 2016. With Lego Dimensions offering a number of ways to invest (and then expand) in the Lego video-game world already, it’s possible that the Lego Marvel game would have been overlooked.

Pre-orders will open soon with an exclusive with a UK retailer (to be announced) where early adopters will receive an exclusive Silver Centurion Iron Man LEGO mini-figure — one of the suits that will be playable in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. The mini-figure will ship along with the game for online customers; in-store customers will receive at time of purchase.

The roster of characters in the game is still expanding, and as executive producer Phil Ring highlighted during my demo, they are still open to suggestions for additions. The game will boast around 150 new Marvel heroes not seen before with some characters also returning from the previous Lego Marvel video-game.

As you can see in the footage here, there is an emphasis on teaming up abilities where two characters work together to pull off a special move. Once charged, these attacks have greater power and are gorgeous to look at. In the demo we saw the Barton Farm location for the first time along with Bruce Banner, Hulk, Ms Marvel Kamala Khan, Speed, Thor Jane Foster and the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Nintendo Nintendo 3DS, STEAM/Windows PC and Mac.
