Meadowlands State Fair gears up 17-day run – NJ.com

A Meadowlands sports complex staple, the State Fair, is returning later this month with everything you know and love, plus some new treats.

Starting June 19, the parking lot next to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford will be transformed into a fair-goers playground.

Aside from the 150-plus rides, there will be no shortage of entertainment and food.

Riff, The Vaughs, LoCash, Cousin Brucie’s Palisades Park Reunion III and Bubba Grouch are among the 20 musical acts that will perform throughout the 16-day fair.

New this year is the Lipizzaner Stallions & Horses of the World Show. Two accomplished equestrians, Gabriella Herrmann and Caroline Williams, will demonstrate a number of different performance techniques, including classical dressage – an elegant series of movements that will delight and amaze audiences with its beauty and grace.

The always-popular Great American Thrill Show, an open-air performance of daredevil acrobats and aerialists, is back for another year.

With more than 50 food vendors, fair-goers can sample a mix of savory favorites such as real Philly cheesesteaks, gyros, pizza, corn on the cob and much more, as well as sweet indulgences such as deep-friend Pop Tarts, ice cream sundaes with fresh strawberries and cotton candy.

Cute animals will be in tow at the petting zoo and pig race. All shows are included in the entrance fee.

Admission during the week is $10 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under. On weekends, it’s $11 for adults and $9 for kids 12 and under.

The State Fair is also offering special promotional nights:

— Opening Night, Friday, June 19, after 5 p.m., admission is $2 per person.

— Kids Go Free Night, Wednesday, June 24, after 6 p.m., kids 12 and under will get free entrance into the fair.

— Cheap, Cheap Night, Wednesday, July 1, after 6 p.m., fair admission for everyone will be $5.
