Star Wars lands at Changi Airport – Channel News Asia
SINGAPORE: From a galaxy far, far away, two of the most iconic starfighters from the Star Wars universe have made their way to Changi Airport.
At the unveiling on Thursday (Nov 12), Changi Airport showed off a life-sized X-wing fighter at Terminal 3’s departure hall, as well as a TIE fighter at Terminal 2’s Departure Hall.
The starfighters will be on display from Thursday 2pm to Jan 5.

At the X-wing, visitors will be able to don Star Wars costumes and take a seat in the cockpit for a photo opportunity. X-wing fighter pilots and Imperial Stormtroopers will also make an appearance every Saturday at 4pm.
Right behind the X-wing is protocol droid C-3PO with his own language centre, where he will teach visitors popular Star Wars phrases in 10 commonly-spoken languages. Next to him will be a showcase of Star Wars model displays, including Han Solo’s (or Lando Carlrissian’s) Millennium Falcon and the Star Destroyer.

This coincides with the arrival of the R2-D2 All-Nippon Airways plane to Changi Airport. This is the first Asian stop for the plane outside Japan, and it will be making a two-night stop. However, tickets to board the plane have all been given out.
Changi Airport will also feature some activities for everyone, including an obstacle course for the BB-8 droid. It will also have Star Wars merchandise on sale, such as luggage tags, tote bags and stickers.
Fans can also collect a full set of eight limited-edition Star Wars plush toys, which can be purchased at S$6 each with minimum spending of S$70 at Changi Airport’s public areas, or S$150 in the transit areas in a same-day single receipt. The toys include Yoda, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, a Stormtrooper, BB-8, C-3PO and R2-D2, and they will be released from Nov 17.
This event is held in conjunction with the upcoming Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, which will be released on Dec 17.
