Oishei Children’s Hospital taking shape – Buffalo News

Construction on the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus is now 35 percent complete, as the $267 million project is moving forward on schedule and on budget, according to Kaleida Health.

Exterior framing is now underway, and windows are being installed on the 12-story building, which is “really starting to take shape,” said Kaleida spokesman Michael Hughes.

Located at the corner of Ellicott and High streets, the new 410,000-square-foot hospital will contain 185 inpatient beds, and will be directly connected to the new Conventus building, with further links to Buffalo General Medical Center, University at Buffalo’s new medical school and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Designed by Boston architectural firm Shepley Bulfinch and built by Turner Construction Co., the construction project is expected to last 34 months, with completion planned for November 2017.
