Westpark Pediatrics joins Barnabas Health Medical Group – NJBIZ


About a dozen new pediatricians and nurse practitioners are now affiliated with the Barnabas Health Medical Group in Monmouth County.

Westpark Pediatrics joined Barnabas through an affiliation with the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, according to a statement Monday.

Westpark currently has three locations in Lakewood and Ocean and Manalapan Townships.

“The partnership between Westpark Pediatrics and Barnabas Health Medical Group will support our goal of delivering easy, accessible, comprehensive care to the families of Ocean and Monmouth County,” said Dr. Elias Sasson. “We’re excited to be part of this partnership and look forward to providing the highest level of care to our patients.”

Sasson and Dr. Judith Topilow found the pediatrics practice in 1977.

Elias Sasson, M.D., F.A.A.P. founded Westpark Pediatrics with Dr. Topilow in 1977. Since the age of 13, he knew he wanted to be a doctor and never thought about doing anything else. After graduating from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and completing a residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Sasson moved to Monmouth County and opened Westpark Pediatrics. 

Judith Topilow, M.D., F.A.A.P. teamed up with Dr. Sasson in 1977 to open the first Westpark Pediatrics office in Ocean Township. She completed her medical education at New York Medical College and her residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center While she is committed to all aspects of pediatric care, Dr. Topilow has a special interest in developmental disabilities and has been involved with a Muscular Dystrophy Association sponsored neuromuscular clinic for more than 35 years. She believes that promoting patient advocacy and maintaining an open line of communication with patients and families are key pieces in successful pediatric care.

Kirk Kerensky, M.D., F.A.A.P. has been at Westpark Pediatrics since the early 1980s. Before joining the practice, he attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, completed a pediatrics residency at The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and was fellowship trained in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital.

Ellen Setton, M.D., F.A.A.P. completed her medical training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and her pediatric residency at New York University Medical Center and Bellevue University Hospital. Dr. Setton has more than 20 years of experience in pediatrics.

Thomas O’Brien, M.D., F.A.A.P. has been with Westpark Pediatrics since 2001. He received his medical degree from UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, serving as chief resident.

Rebekah Lipstein, M.D., F.A.A.P. attended medical school at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine and completed her residency in pediatrics at Jacobi Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, serving as chief resident.

Klara Galperina, D.O., F.A.A.P. received her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in pediatrics at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson.

Cynthia McLaughlin, APN – C, C.P.N.P is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner who has been with Westpark Pediatrics since 2010. She received a Master of Science in nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, where she specialized in primary care pediatrics.

Erika Jubina, APN – C, C.P.N.P graduated from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., where she completed the pediatric nurse practitioner program. 

Nechama Ray, APN – C, C.P.N.P joined Westpark Pediatrics as a nurse practitioner in 2014. She attended Columbia University, where she received her nursing degree and completed the pediatric nurse practitioner program.

Aimee Coyle, APN – C, C.P.N.P. graduated from Rutgers University College of Nursing, where she specialized in pediatrics.
